Our History
Anthony Supply Co., Inc.
is located in Greenville, Illinois, North of Interstate 70 on Route
127
J.W. Anthony started doing
business in 1934 as a John Deere Dealer. After World War II, he began
selling baling wire and nails. In 1958, Anthony Supply Company's
current President, John M. Anthony, joined his father and the
foundation was laid for the company as it exists today. Barbed wire,
welded wire fabric, and poultry netting were added to the line as the
small company began expanding. John learned the business from the
bottom up, unloading merchandise from the mills, the delivering it to
the customers on the company truck.
In 1969, due the health
reasons, Jim took a less active role in the company. It was at this
time that Anthon supply company was incorporated, and shares were sold
to Chester York. John became the President of the corporation, and
Chester Secretary-Treasurer in charge of sales, a position he held
until his retirement.
In 1980, Patrick York,
Chester's son, joined the company and began calling on customers and
working in the warehouse. In 1990, he purchased his father's shares
of the of the corporation, and was made Vice-President. His early
experience has enabled him to understand the customers and effectively
serve their needs today.
The third generation of
the Anthony family, Holland Anthony, John's son, joined the company
full time in 1992, after his graduation from Greenville College. He
has become adept at operating the computer and fielding phone calls.
Having grown up with Anthony Supply, he fully understands the product
line and the way the company operates.
July of 1996 marked
another milestone for the company. Holland purchased his father's
shares and succeeded him as President of the corporation. As Holland
follows in John's footsteps, the company continues to expand and grow
to meet customer demands.
Quality, in products and
services, is of primary concern to those of us at Anthony Supply. We
are committed to delivering the highest products at the most
competitive prices.
